Biography

Based in Montreal, Quebec, Sylvia Erlichman-Gross intuitively paints and draws to create abstract and abstract expressionist artwork that evokes emotion and a sense of movement. She uses music to inspire her gestures as well as her use of colour. Often through these spontaneous moments, she finds meaning in the pieces she creates. Exploration of colour, texture and balance show through in both her drawings and paintings. Sylvia started making art when she was very young, and her passion for creation and investigation has only grown since her studies in Art Education at Concordia University. Teaching children and youth through internships has inspired her approach to art-making in her personal art practice. Now pursuing an MA in Art Education at Concordia University, Sylvia explores process and meaning-making across her artist, teacher, and researcher identities. She continues to enjoy engaging in self-reflection, intuitive art-making and identifying connections across disciplines in her artwork.
